Business incubator nurtures RMIT students

Darebin Enterprise Centre Ltd (DECL) is a longstanding supporter of RMIT University students. Currently it employs an RMIT graduate and two current students from the School of Accounting and Law.

As a business incubator, DECL aims to help small businesses establish and grow. It offers favourable conditions for start-up businesses by providing them with affordable space on monthly terms, the ability to expand on site as the business grows, and shared office services.

DECL provides professional assistance in a range of areas and also offers training, mentoring and personal support to business managers.

SolaMate wins 'New Inventors' award

DECL Tenant SolaMate has won the weekly award on the ABC's 'New Inventors'.

The product concept is a unique solar air heating and cooling technology for the home, created by local engineer and SolaMate Managing Director Stuart Elliot.

Darebin Enterprise Centre Ltd (DECL) is a small business Incubator that works closely with the City of Darebin to develop and grow small businesses. Its program assists start-up and growth enterprises in Melbourne's north and Indigenous(Aboriginal) business development across Australia.

The Darebin Enterprise Centre's key objectives are:

To assist small business development through small business incubation;
To provide services and mentoring support to small business owners and managers.
To create local employment opportunities through the development and growth of small business enterprises;
To improve the long term viability of small business enterprises;
To support Indigenous entrepreneurs, contractors and corporations to build independent and viable business capacity;
To provide business services and mentoring support to Indigenous small business owners and managers.
